150 Bars You Need To Visit Before Your Die

I was recently gifted a new book which is right up my alley: 150 Bars You Need To Visit Before You Die by sommelier and spirits connoisseur Jurgen Lijcops (published by Lannoo). It’s the perfect addition to your F&B book collection, with a selection of 150 lovely, unique international bars – from must-visit classics to hidden gems (it also features 25 signature cocktails, including descriptions and recipes). I have certainly been to a few on the list,  but I am willing to investigate more 😉 Some highlights in regions I frequent include:

NYC: Blacktail Bar, The Bar Room, The Blond, Campbell Bar, Dante, The Dead Rabbit, Employees Only, Nomad Bar, Attaboy, Mace, Monarch Rooftop, Mr Purple, Trick Dog, Red2One, Canon Bar, Rumba, Bar Raval

Chicago: The Aviary, Bordel, Untitled Supper Club

LA: Gallery Bar, Gianni Bar, The Spare Room

New Orleans: Beach Bum Berry’s, Carousel Bar

Paris: Candelaria, Castor Club, Le Bar Botaniste, Dirty Dick, Le Bar Georges V, Little Red Door, Le Bar Du, Plaza Athenee, Sherry Butt

London: The Alchemist, Aqua Shard, Beaufort Bar, The American Bar, Connaught Bar, Bloomsbury Club Bar, Christopher’s Martini Bar, German Gymnasium, Dandelyan, The Gibson, Sexy Fish, Hyde Bar, K Bar, Jailhouse Bar, Milk & Honey, Mr Fogg’s Tavern, Nightjar, Oriole, Sacarfes Bar, Shanghai Bar, 69 Colebrook Row, Sky Pod Bar, Wave Bar, Zth Cocktail Lounge

Finding a major city’s ultimate cocktail bar is often quite the challenge. This book takes you on a trip around the world from Hong Kong to New York and Berlin. It shows locations that set themselves apart with their gorgeous design, stunning views, exclusivity or signature cocktail. In short, must-visit bars for any enthusiast. Can’t wait? Not to worry. The author has added some of the best cocktail recipes for classics, such as Gin Fizz, Negroni or a Manhattan, as well as the best sours and long drinks. Discover the history of each bar, learn how to select your own cocktail menu, let the atmosphere of every location carry you away or stay home to create your own ambience (and self-made drink).

This book includes everything from images of luxurious décor, to the employees who make each wonderful experience possible. Be warned, this book may cause an excessive urge to travel the world – but then again, don’t all of you already embrace Wanderlust? Cheers, darlings xo
