Santiago, Chile

I had the great luck of going to Chile for the first time, with one of my best friends who is from there so I got the real tour.

Chile is a beautiful country offering diverse landscape, given it’s long, narrow country stretching along South America’s western edge, with more than 6,000km of Pacific Ocean coastline. There is a lot to tackle but let’s start with Santiago – Chile’s capital and largest city – which sits in a valley surrounded by the snow-capped Andes and the Chilean Coast Range. It also boasts incredible wine, and was the home to magnificent poet Pablo Neruda! Its difficult political past (1973 coup) has given way to a new generation, carving out a modern future and the continued economic growth of the City is impressive. Read more on the history of Chile

Valparaíso: This port city is known for its colorful, clifftop homes. La Sebastiana, the quirky former residence of Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, is now a museum with far-reaching Pacific views.

Easter Island: A Chilean territory, is a remote volcanic island in Polynesia. Its native name is Rapa Nui. It’s famed for archaeological sites, including nearly 900 monumental statues called moai, created by inhabitants during the 13th–16th centuries.
