In the last few years, I have watched more and more of my friends choose Colombia for their next vacations (and on a couple of occasions, weddings). Let’s take a closer look at Colombia.
After my initial trips to Chile and Argentina, I was hooked on South America and knew Brazil and Colombia would need to be moved up the travel list. Apparently it has moved up everyone else’s list as well, and it’s easy to see why with it’s beautiful beaches, culture and people. While the idea of Colombia used to sound dangerous, riddled with stories of Pablo Escobar’s Drug escapades, the Country has moved into the future and brought with it a boom in tourism. Located at the northern tip of South America, it’s landscape is marked by rainforests, Andes mountains and numerous coffee plantations. Colombia travel includes both colonial towns and the dynamic big cities of Bogota and Medellin, tropical seaside resorts, and the lush and cooler highlands. Colombia is a large and varied country, but highlights include:
• The Gold Museum in Bogota • Cartagena’s Old Town • Medellin’s nightlife • Coffee plantations in the Zona Cafetera • The Amazon rainforest
