Work & Study Abroad

Updated: Jan 28

If you are looking to expand your experiences and gain global perspective through work-study-volunteer exchange, the options can be overwhelming! So we have rounded up some resources for you here.

Working, studying, interning, volunteering abroad may provide a more immersive experience and can aid in achieving language fluency.

Go Abroad – A fantastic resource, search for meaningful travel programs in every region of the world, get expert travel advice, read real reviews, find scholarships, and discover the world. This website covers a bevy of abroad experiences, so you can study, work, volunteer, intern, teach, or take a gap year almost anywhere.

Go Overseas – Another great database for planning a trip overseas, simplify your search by comparing programs side by side.

We Journey – Want to give back on your next vacation? We Journey creates impact travel experiences in international and domestic destinations. Their projects range from building homes and skate parks to renovating schools and working with women’s collectives, and each experience is designed to take a group of travelers on a Journey into service, self-growth, community, adventure and fun. Their next trip is to Colombia in May!

Remote Year – This young company is blending the idea of remote work with world travel. They curate communities of professionals, entrepreneurs, and freelancers from across the globe to spend either 4 or 12 months together working, traveling, and exploring cities around the world (*keep in mind you must be working already to apply). We have heard mixed reviews due to their growing pains, but as a young company we are sure they will smooth it out as they continue to move forward.
